  • A 92 year old  Legend passes away
    21 March.92 years old Pitasoni Vete passed away at his home in Onehunga, Auckland NZ after decades of being the last survivor of a pioneering Vete family dynasty both in the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand. He will be laid in state at the LDS chapel,147 Pah Rd,Royal Oak Auckland Wednesday 27th March for people to pay their last respects with his funeral service( more details refer Tongan Aid page)

  • Continue... Pitasoni Vete passed away.
    24 March 2013.The funeral service on Thursday 27th at the Captain springs chapel (TBC). Pitasoni a Seaman,owned many properties and a retail shop. His generosity also extended in him providing deposits for many of the earlier Tongans and others who settled here in NZ,including infamous Jonah Lomu and his parents. He pioneered also the importing of Foodstuff from his beloved Tonga and had a part in encouraging the peoples to support the NZ labour party. Updates ph Sina (+6421)054970

    22 Oct.the 2nd Vete/Percival Reunion held in Mt.Wellington,Auckland NZ had close to 400 attending from Austalia, Phillpines,Italy,Australia,Tonga and many parts of NZ.     20 Oct 2012, a major achievement of this 2nd reunion was the Re-connecting of the many families which has history linked to the Normandy invasion of England in 1066.   • land commission here in NZ
    7 Dec. Tonga's Royal Land commission were present in Aotearoa until 14th December to hear public submissions on the work of the commission. Approximately 45 people attended Pule La'a Methodist church in New Lynn. The Commissioners accepted the complaints by those attending of how slow the lands office were in processing applications for land titles, ownership or leasing. Many also expressed concerns regarding the issue of women ownership.

  • A Samoan gift to Tongan Aucklanders means two containers can now be filled for the people harmed by the Tsunami that wrecked much of Niuatoputapu – a northern Tongan Island near to Samoa.

  • According to figures recently released by the kingsdom's Ministry of Tourism (MOT),air visitors from NZ has increased by 26% for the year 2007. A great recovery after the 16/11 riots of 2006. Compared to Fiji's post coup recover, Tonga's return on the market is remarkable.
